Mirror & Reflection

  1. f=r/2. f is focal length and r is radius of curvature. Focal length of concave (converging) mirror is negative and that of convex mirror (diverging) is positive.
  2. m=-v/u=hi/ho, negative for real images and positive for virtual images
  3. Mirror formula, 1/u+1/v=1/f
  4. image formed by plane mirror and convex mirror are always virtual. Image formed by concave mirror can be both real and virtual.

Lens & Refraction

  1. Lens formula, 1/v-1/u=1/f
  2. m=v/u=hi/ho
  3. P=1/f, where focal should be in meter , SI unit power is diopter
  4. Refractive index =sin<i/sin<r, n is relative refractive index
  5. n12=speed of light in medium2/speed of light in medium 1, n12 is relative refractive index of medium 1 with respect to medium 2.
  6. n=c/v , n is known is absolute refractive index where c=3×10^8m/s

Electricity

  1. Q=ne, Q is charge, n is number of electron, e is charge on one electron and e=1.6×10^-19 Coulomb
  2. I=Q/t, SI unit of current is Ampere (A)
  3. Q=It
  4. V=W.D/Charge=W/Q, v is potential, SI unit of potential is volt.
  5. w=vQ
  6. V=IR, V is potential difference or voltage
  7. Rs=R1+R2+R3, Rs is equivalent resistance in series combination
  8. 1/Rp=1/R1+1/R2+1/R3, Rp is equivalent resistance in parallel combination
  9. R=pL/A, p is resistivity of conductor, L is length of conductor , A is area of cross section
